The Last Kingdom

The last capital of the ancient kingdoms, Kandy is the home for the Sacred Temple of Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in the world. An annual event of a pageant takes place in July carrying the Tooth Relic around the city. Cultural dancers, elephants decorated with lights and many local dances aligned walk along from night till dawn. This is one of the main cultural events in Sri Lanka, locals and many foreigners from around the world visit Kandy to witness the event.
